Through the course of this unit, students will better understand Canada's links to the world, with a specific focus on Canada's trade links. This strand of the Grade 6 Social Studies curriculum focuses on Canada and our relationships with the world. In primary grades, students were introduced to this topic by studying their local community. Throughout the junior grades, students gradually moved towards looking at other communities, provinces and territories and then larger connections that Canada has with other countries. Throughout the unit, students will use a variety of inquiry methods and research skills and tools to investigage the significance of global connections for Canada and the international community.
